Under the leadership of Mr. Derry Prothero the choir sang a variety of settings of Eucharist and Evensong, singing both simple and Cathedral settings. Anthems were sung at all festivals and many other Sundays. The choir held annual services of "Lessons and Carols" and has performed such major works as Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation and several settings of the mass. The choir occasionally sang at other churches in the area and was regularly invited to sing the offices at Llandaf Cathedral in the absence of the Cathedral Choir. Ian Hopkins Derry is currently leading the ladies choir Cantorion Cyfarthfa many members of which were also part of his highly successful girls choir from Cyfarthfa High School from 1972 to 1991. |

The extracts below are taken from a recording made in 1997 with the then current regular church choir numbering 32 choristers. This recording was made pre-dating the current mobile setup using a collection of AKG C1000s and SM58s to a now retired Fostex R8, 8 track reel-to-reel recorder, being finally mastered to minidisc. (Please check our current mobile setup here) Recording sessions took place over a number of dates with further post production back at the tadpole's studio facility. |
