studio piano/mic blur

Although being a home studio, we have a dedicated premises housing separate conrol and peformance rooms. The studio area is both spacious and comfortable allowing performers to feel relaxed whilst creating that perfect atmostphere for creative and natural production.

We have a range of microphones to create a wide range of sounds (SE Electronics Z5600a tube, AKG C414 ULS, SE Electronics SE300, plus others) We also have a small range of instruments ranging from the grand piano (pictured) to fretted and fretless bass guitars, and amplification.

We also have an offsite facility which can be made available for larger ensembles, drummers, etc.

We are also a mobile unit and can come to your chosen venue to record concerts or performances suited to a larger environment. Classical and acoustic recordings on-site are considered a specialism and our main engineer has considerable experience working with choirs and in places or worship. Please see our CHORAL section for more details.

The studio is centred around the Digital Audio Workstation Cubase with DAC/ADC via MOTU 2408 and Focusrite Octopre Platinum. We are also ADAT compatable and able to work from any ADAT masters you may already have.

Our mobile unit is again centred around Cubase but this time conversion is via MOTU Traveller and Focusrite Octopre Platinum depending on size of project..

For on site recordings of a traditionally classical genre a typical range of mics would include stereo pairs of Z5600 tube mics, SE3000 and AKG C414 arranged in varying configurations from coincident or spaced pairs to spot and ambient support. Additional microphones are available depending on size and location of project.

Back at the studio we have extensive post production and mastering tools to create a professional and polished final product utilising the powerful software engines of Melodyne and Izotope.

At the Tadpole we concentrate on product and quality not pounds per hour. Before emabarking on any project we ask that you visit us for a free no-obligation meeting and quote, where you are welcome to view our facility and discuss any requirements or questions you may have. We charge on a strictly fee-per-project basis and not per-hour as most studios do. The price negotiated is the final price you pay for all recording sessions, mastering and a completed single master CD with all tracks in your preferred order. Artwork can be arranged at additional cost, as can a limited number of CDs for further sale by yourself.
